Cash Accumulation Fund
You can contribute money to a voluntary cash
accumulation fund that earns interest on a tax-deferred basis. Your
interest rate will change from year to year, but is guaranteed to
be at least 4% annually. You can easily save for a vacation, a new
car, retirement, or anything else you choose.
To participate, you must deposit at least
$120 a year into your account. The amount you choose will be deducted
evenly from your paychecks throughout the year. You can start, stop
or change your contributions at any time by visiting Benefits Online
via LMPeople or calling the Lockheed Martin Employee Service Center.
You can also make lump sum deposits directly to the plan administrator
whenever you’d like.**
* Only
bargaining units that have specifically negotiated for GUL have
this program. Certain bargaining units limit coverage elections
to 6x annual salary to a maximum of $2,500,000. Refer to your summary
plan description for details.
**
Please note, if your cash contribution exceeds
certain limits and your GUL coverage becomes a Modified Endowment
Contract (MEC), different tax rules, and in some cases, penalties
apply for lifetime distributions such as loans, withdrawals, and
assignments. A MEC can result from premium payments or from a reduction
in coverage (such as the purchase of paid-up insurance). If this
applies to you, Marsh @WorkSolutions will notify you in writing
of your status and advise you of your current options (if any) and
by when you must respond. Prudential is not authorized to give tax
advice. Please consult your tax advisor.
